GARLIC BUTTER SWEET POTATO MASH
Description
This easy mashed sweet potato recipe blends roasted garlic, butter, and creamy milk for a silky-smooth side dish that’s sweet, savory, and satisfying.
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Peel and chop the sweet potatoes into evenly sized chunks to ensure they cook at the same rate. Place them in a large pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook for 15–20 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender and soft enough to mash.
-
While the potatoes are cooking, gently warm the milk with the minced garlic in a small saucepan. This helps infuse the milk with a subtle garlicky flavor while taking away the raw edge of the garlic.
-
Once the potatoes are done, drain them well and return them to the pot. Add the butter and begin mashing until smooth and fluffy. Gradually pour in the warm garlic milk, mixing as you go, until the mash reaches your desired creaminess.
-
Season generously with salt and black pepper to taste. Whip or mash one last time until silky, then serve warm as a side dish.
Note
For extra flavor, roast the garlic cloves before mashing for a sweeter, more mellow taste.
Adjust the milk quantity to achieve your preferred texture—less for a firmer mash, more for ultra-creamy.
Leftovers keep well in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat gently on the stovetop with a splash of milk.
You can prepare the mash ahead of time and keep warm in a covered dish for up to 2 hours before serving.
